GRIMY TIMES — Teodoro Rodriguez-Alvarez, 34, a Mexican national, has copped to illegal firearm possession in federal court, marking a significant victory for law enforcement in Pensacola. The plea comes from the Northern District of Florida, where U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin announced the charges against the defendant.
Heekin’s office cited Rodriguez-Alvarez’s repeated violations of U.S. laws while present in the country without legal status. ‘This criminal alien has brazenly violated our laws,’ Heekin said, thanking local law enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations for their efforts.
The incident began on July 15, 2025, when a Gulf Breeze Police Department officer responded to a stopped pickup truck on the Pensacola Bay Bridge. The sole occupant was identified as Rodriguez-Alvarez through his Mexican passport. He was subsequently arrested for multiple driving offenses. During a vehicle inventory, authorities discovered a pistol concealed in a bag near the driver’s seat.
Rodriguez-Alvarez faces up to 15 years’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release. The investigation leading to this conviction involved collaboration between the Gulf Breeze Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey M. Tharp is prosecuting the case.
This charge falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide effort to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime. The Northern District of Florida’s U.S. Attorney’s Office is dedicated to fulfilling the promise made by President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
