BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A gritty courtroom witnessed the fall of Fidel Ramirez-Mancilla, a 34-year-old man from Puebla, Mexico, as he pleaded guilty to illegal reentry into the United States after being previously removed.
According to court records, Ramirez-Mancilla has a sordid past that includes the aggravated felony of sex penetration with force. The removal order in December 2011 prohibited him from returning, yet fate seemed to conspire against justice when he was intercepted May 19 north of the Rio Grande River.
U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced Ramirez-Mancilla’s guilt, setting the stage for his sentencing on September 17th before U.S. District Judge Rolando Olvera. The fate that awaits this predator is a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine that could reach $250,000.
As it stands, Ramirez-Mancilla remains in custody, awaiting the verdict of justice. The investigation was spearheaded by Customs and Border Protection, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Angel Castro leading the prosecution.
