A Brewton man has been sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for cocaine trafficking in Alabama, according to court records.
On May 1, 2023, officers with the Brewton Police Department executed an active arrest warrant for Michael Anthony Woods II for violation of a protection order at his home in Brewton.
During the execution of the arrest warrant, Woods ran from the officers but was captured and arrested.
While at the scene of the arrest, officers searched the vehicle parked in the driveway, a Dodge Charger ‘Scat-Pack’ that Woods had retrieved something from just before the arrest. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a total of approximately 608 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine.
The powder cocaine was still in the form of what was left of a kilogram brick.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the City of Brewton Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George F. May.
In sentencing Woods to 60 months imprisonment, the court found that he had been in possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
The court documents also established that Woods was in violation of a protection order when the arrest warrant was executed.
