Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Iowa
Omaha, Nebraska resident Michael Clayton, 43, has been charged with one count of bank robbery in Iowa. The charges were filed in an Indictment on May 22, 2013, in United States District Court in Sioux City.
The Indictment alleges that on or about February 7, 2013, Clayton robbed the C.S. Bank in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Clayton appeared in federal court in Sioux City on June 12, 2013, and was held without bond. His next appearance will be his trial, set for August 5, 2013.
According to the Indictment, if convicted Clayton faces a possible maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and 3 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Forde Fairchild.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
