A Michigan man is headed to federal prison for 117 months after a firearms charge conviction.
Nathan Cortez Duncan, 43, of Highland Park, Michigan, was sentenced in West Virginia for acquiring a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to the DOJ USAO.
The sentence was handed down in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, where Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, and it was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative.
Duncan was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol after fleeing from a first-story window during a search at his home, which also led to the seizure of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, additional firearms, ammunition, and cash.
As part of the sentence, Duncan will serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
