Former Escambia County, Florida criminal Bobby Joseph Stallworth, 59, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The plea comes after Stallworth was apprehended in Jackson, Mississippi on October 9, 2017, during a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend.
Stallworth, who has approximately twenty felony convictions from Escambia County, Florida over the past three decades, primarily for theft and forgery, faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled before Senior U.S. District Judge David C. Bramlette III on August 22, 2019.
U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Special Agent Christopher Freeze of the FBI announced the guilty plea, emphasizing that this case is part of Project EJECT, an initiative under the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). EJECT aims to combat violent crime through prosecution, prevention, re-entry, and awareness initiatives.
Project EJECT was established in 2017 by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who directed all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to develop effective strategies for reducing violent crime in partnership with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies, as well as community stakeholders.
This case was investigated by the FBI and Jackson Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Andrew W. Eichner handling the prosecution.
