MISSION, SD – In a shocking case of brutality, a Mission man has been sentenced to 150 months in custody for Aggravated Sexual Abuse.
Zachary Poorman, age 26, was handed down the sentence on October 29, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange, following a guilty plea on June 13, 2013, to the federal charge.
The conviction stems from a horrific incident that took place on October 29, 2012, when Poorman forcibly sexually abused a victim at a residence in Mission, leaving the victim with serious injuries.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Tim Maher leading the prosecution.
Poorman, who was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, must also register as a sex offender and pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund as part of his supervised release, which will last for 5 years.
