SCRANTON – In a stunning turn of events, Mohammed Zeidan, also known as ‘Mo,’ was found guilty on September 5, 2024, for orchestrating a series of home-invasion armed robberies in Schuylkill and Berks Counties. The 36-year-old East Greenville resident faced charges of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery, attempted Hobbs Act Robbery, and firearms conspiracy following a four-day trial before Senior United States District Judge Robert D. Mariani.
Zeidan, who was friends with the president of the Schuylkill County chapter of the Infamous Ryders Motorcycle Club, Steven Wong, utilized Wong’s influence to recruit members for his crime spree. In August 2020, Zeidan and three others attempted a home-invasion robbery in which they wore masks and carried firearms during their heist. One of the weapons was a homemade AR-15 style assault rifle. Despite Zeidan not personally carrying a firearm, he tried to break down the backdoor while impersonating a police officer. The victims, fearing for their lives, jumped out of a window, sustaining injuries.
Zeidan’s role in the botched August 29, 2020, robbery did not go unnoticed among his fellow conspirators, who later committed additional armed robberies. His co-conspirators, including Steven Wong, have all been convicted and await sentencing. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the ATF and Pennsylvania State Police.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program dedicated to reducing violent crime and gun violence across communities. Assistant United States Attorneys James Buchanan and Sarah Lloyd prosecuted the case. Zeidan faces a maximum penalty of twenty years’ imprisonment.
The Department of Justice has launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN, focusing on fostering trust in communities, supporting prevention efforts, setting enforcement priorities, and measuring results. Sentencing will be determined by Judge Mariani after considering federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
