Mobridge Woman Sentenced for Meth Conspiracy
A Mobridge woman was sentenced to 105 months in custody for her role in a methamphetamine conspiracy. Amber Long Chase, 32, was convicted of one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Chase was sentenced on January 4, 2013, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. In addition to the prison sentence, Chase received 6 years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
According to court documents, Chase knowingly and intentionally conspired to distribute and possess a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, in 2011. The conviction stems from a superseding information Chase pled guilty to in September 2012.
The investigation into Chase’s activities was conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.
Chase was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal following her sentencing. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
The Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force continues to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those involved in the distribution of controlled substances. This case is a testament to their dedication and commitment to keeping our communities safe.
