HAMMOND, INDIANA – 2013
A Chicago man has pleaded guilty to transporting a woman for prostitution in Hammond, Indiana. Montell Williams, 33, of Chicago, Illinois, entered a guilty plea before Senior District Judge Rudy Lozano to the felony offense of transporting for prostitution. Sentencing has been set for April 25, 2013.
The charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Gary Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jill Koster.
Williams faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
The investigation found that Williams was transporting a woman for prostitution in Lake County, Indiana.
Williams’ guilty plea is a serious blow to those involved in human trafficking, and a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in the region.
As a result of his guilty plea, Williams will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a period of supervised release after his incarceration.
