Moore Man Sentenced for Child Porn Possession
A 40-year-old Moore man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a federal crime that carries a maximum penalty of $250,000 in fines and/or 20 years in prison.
Harold Blackwell, 40, of Moore, South Carolina, entered a guilty plea in federal court in Greenville to a charge of possession of child pornography, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A.
According to court documents, Blackwell was approached by undercover law enforcement agents on a ‘KIK’ messaging application while they were conducting a child exploitation investigation. He sent videos and images of child pornography to the undercover officer using his cell phone.
Blackwell was subsequently approached by law enforcement and admitted to sending the child pornography. The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Bill Watkins of the Greenville office handled the case. United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks of Charleston will impose sentence after reviewing the presentence report prepared by the U.S. Probation Office.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
