GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – A grim sentence of 216 months in federal prison was handed down to Brandon Lee Alexander, 36, from Morristown, Tennessee, following his conviction for methamphetamine trafficking and gun crimes. The Honorable J. Ronnie Greer imposed the severe penalty on June 3, 2019.
A two-day jury trial on February 13, 2019, led to Alexander’s conviction on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. His request for a new trial was denied.
Alexander’s downfall began when Morristown Police Department detectives stopped him in April 2017, discovering 28 grams of meth, $11,580 in cash, and a loaded semi-automatic pistol. A second traffic stop in May 2017 resulted in the seizure of an additional 100 grams of meth.
Apart from Alexander, two key players in the methamphetamine distribution network were also sentenced. Pamela Renee Puckett, 49, of Buford, Georgia, and Thomas Lynn Martin, 48, from Cosby, Tennessee, were each handed sentences of 210 months and 21 years respectively for their roles in the conspiracy.
The extensive investigation that led to Alexander’s indictment was a collaborative effort involving local law enforcement agencies, including the Morristown Police Department, Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department, and federal partners such as the U.S. Marshals Service, ATF, and FBI.
This case underscores the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program’s efforts to dismantle major drug trafficking organizations. Established in 1982, OCDETF combines resources and expertise to tackle serious drug trafficking and money laundering operations across the nation.
