Brice Aron Horton, Ice Meth Trafficking, Iowa 2024

Law enforcement has hit another hard blow against the drug trade in Iowa. Mount Vernon’s Brice Aron Horton, 49, was sentenced to over twelve years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a massive ice methamphetamine trafficking charge.

Horton, a repeat offender with a lengthy rap sheet, was caught in May 2024 with over one and a half pounds of ice meth and a firearm, despite being a convicted felon and barred from firearms possession. The arrest came as officers with the Mt. Vernon-Lisbon Police Department stopped Horton’s vehicle.

During the search, police discovered the dangerous drugs and weapon, which would later form the basis for Horton’s federal charges. According to court documents, Horton admitted to distributing at least 13 pounds of ice meth in Iowa’s Northern District between May 2023 and May 2024, along with 100 fentanyl pills.

The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams, who sentenced Horton to 147 months in federal prison, followed by a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system for his crime.

The case against Horton was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Jared Manternach and investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Mt. Vernon-Lisbon Police Department.
