Fort Wayne, Indiana resident Marco Antonio Jimenez Gonzalez, 27, has been hit with federal charges for transportation and possession of child pornography. The 27-year-old faces a grim future as the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont announced the charges on August 7, 2025.
According to court records, Gonzalez attempted to reenter the U.S. at Highgate Springs Port of Entry on July 23, 2025. During this process, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers discovered explicit child sexual abuse material on his cell phone and laptop, leading to his immediate arrest.
The arraignment for Gonzalez is set for August 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but if convicted, he could spend up to 40 years in prison and face a mandatory minimum of five years. The actual sentence would be determined by the District Court.
Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher commended the efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua L. Banker is the prosecutor in this case, with defense attorney Brooks McArthur representing Gonzalez.
This charge stems from Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. The initiative coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute predators who exploit children online.
