Grant Ridder, Child Pornography Production, California 2024

GRIMY NEWS: Grant Ridder, a Mountain View resident, has been arraigned on federal charges of producing child pornography, distribution and possession of child pornography, cyberstalking, and coercion and enticement of a minor. The charges stem from an investigation that began following a report by a 16-year-old victim whose Facebook account was accessed without her consent. Sexual explicit photographs of the minor were found on the social media platform.

According to court documents, Ridder accessed the victim’s account using his IP address. The incident followed the termination of their relationship. Another victim, aged 13, also reported that Ridder requested sexually explicit photographs from her and threatened to show her mother photographs she had previously sent. Fearing the threat, the minor sent several explicit images to Ridder.

Ridder faces a plethora of charges including production of child pornography, distribution of child porn, cyberstalking, and coercion of a minor. If convicted on all counts, he could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years for production of child pornography, up to 30 years if convicted under section 2252(a)(2), and a maximum prison term of life if found guilty of coercion and enticement of a minor.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Maia Perez is handling the prosecution, which is a result of an investigation by the United States Secret Service, the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office, the Stockton Police Department, and other agencies.

Ridder was arrested and remanded to US Marshal custody on May 24, 2017. His next court appearance is set for May 31, where a hearing will determine whether he should be released pending trial.
