MS-13 Gang Member Sentenced to 30 Years for Murder and Racketeering

In a shocking display of gang violence, Kevin Alexis Rodriguez-Flores, a 20-year-old MS-13 member from Annandale, Virginia, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in the brutal murder of a fellow gang member. The gruesome crime took place on March 8, 2019, at a Hyattsville, Maryland residence, where Rodriguez-Flores and other MS-13 members brutally attacked and stabbed Victim 1 144 times, leaving them dead.

According to court documents, Rodriguez-Flores and other MS-13 members were involved in a racketeering enterprise, which included discussing and committing acts of violence against rival gang members and anyone who showed disrespect to the gang. The MS-13 gang, with its roots in El Salvador, has a reputation for using intimidation and violence to maintain its power and control.

The investigation revealed that Rodriguez-Flores was a member of the Enfermos Criminales Salvatruchas MS-13 clique and associated with members of the Los Ghettos Criminales Salvatrucha clique (LGCS) of MS-13. During the time period of 2018 to April 2019, Rodriguez-Flores and other members of the LGCS clique discussed committing racketeering acts, including killing a member of the LGCS clique and rival gang members.

Following the murder, Rodriguez-Flores and other MS-13 members attempted to destroy evidence of the crime, including disposing of blood in the basement and removing blood-stained carpet. The MS-13 leader ordered three members to dispose of Victim 1’s body in Virginia, where it was burned.

The case was a result of a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the Prince George’s County Police Department, the Fairfax County Police Department, and the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Jonathan F. Lenzner and other law enforcement officials.

MS-13 members are known for their brutal tactics, including the use of knives to attack and kill rivals. According to the autopsy report, Victim 1 sustained a total of 144 wounds, including 68 stab wounds and 76 cutting wounds. The MS-13 gang’s culture of violence and intimidation has led to numerous crimes and violence across the United States.
