A Murdo woman has been hit with serious charges after a federal grand jury indictment for her alleged role in a methamphetamine trafficking ring.
Moriah Moran, 32, is accused of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in Todd County, South Dakota. According to the indictment, which was handed down on March 9, 2020, Moran knowingly and intentionally possessed the drug with the intent to distribute it on May 7, 2019.
The maximum penalty upon conviction for Moran is 40 years in prison and/or a $5,000,000 fine, at least 4 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for each count. Restitution may also be ordered.
Moran appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on March 11, 2020, and pled not guilty to the indictment. She was released on bond pending trial, with a date yet to be set.
