Nathan Bushee, 21, Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

South Dakota – A Sioux Falls man has been accused of possessing child pornography. Nathan Bushee, 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 1, 2022, for Possession of Child Pornography.

Bushee appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on March 15, 2022, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The charge alleges that between April 13, 2021, and December 20, 2021, Bushee knowingly possessed and attempted to possess materials containing images of child pornography.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 20 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

Bushee was released on bond pending trial, which has not been set yet. The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Clapper is prosecuting the case.

Bushee is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The charge is merely an accusation.

According to the Indictment, the offense carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in federal prison and/or a fine of $250,000. Additionally, Bushee may be required to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and face life of supervised release. Restitution may also be ordered.
