Neri Farid Ardon-Calix, Illegal Re-Entry, Texas 2024
A Honduran national has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for illegal re-entry, in a case that highlights the ongoing threat of convicted felons returning to the United States.
Neri Farid Ardon-Calix, 30, was found hiding in a railcar near Eagle Pass on January 13, after previously being deported from the U.S. in September 2023. Ardon-Calix had been convicted and served a two-year prison sentence for sexual assault of a child in Houston.
According to court documents, Ardon-Calix pleaded guilty on April 23, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ernest Gonzalez on September 11. In his remarks, Judge Gonzalez emphasized that Ardon-Calix posed a danger to the community.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas made the announcement, which marks the latest development in Operation Take Back America. This nationwide initiative aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
The case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daisy Gonzalez. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
As the nation grapples with the complexities of immigration and crime, this case serves as a stark reminder of the risks posed by individuals with a history of violent offenses.
With the sentencing of Neri Farid Ardon-Calix, authorities have taken a significant step towards protecting the safety and security of American communities.
