Johnny Triplett, Cocaine and Heroin Conspiracy, Louisiana 2021

Johnny Triplett, 33, has been caught red-handed in a heroin and cocaine conspiracy that spanned the states of Texas and Louisiana.

The shocking revelation came when Triplett pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine hydrochloride and 100 grams of heroin on August 19, 2021. This is a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against illicit drug trafficking in the region.

According to court documents, Triplett and his cohorts conspired to transport the deadly substances between Texas and New Orleans. This brazen operation highlights the need for vigilance in our communities and the importance of working together to dismantle these networks.

As part of his plea agreement, Triplett faces a minimum term of imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum term of 40 years of imprisonment. A fine of up to $5,000,000 may also be imposed or the greater of twice the gross gain to the defendant or twice the gross loss to any person. Additionally, Triplett will be placed on supervised release after imprisonment for a period of not less than 4 years. A mandatory $100 special assessment fee will be assessed.

The investigation into this case was led by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a joint federal, state, and local cooperative approach to combat drug trafficking. This is a significant victory for our community, and we commend the work of the Drug Enforcement Administration in bringing Triplett to justice.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration and commended the work of Assistant United States Attorneys Elizabeth Privitera and Jonathan L. Shih in prosecuting the case.

The sentencing is set for November 19, 2021, and we will continue to follow this story as it develops. As a community, we must remain vigilant and continue to work together to combat the scourge of illicit drug trafficking in our region.
