New York Man Caught in Maine Oxycodone Ring
Bangor, Maine – A New York City man has pleaded guilty to a charge of oxycodone distribution in U.S. District Court in Bangor. William Waters, 32, of Bronx, New York, faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
According to court records, on March 15, 2013, Waterville Police officers encountered Waters and Ebony Howard, who they believed to be carrying a large quantity of oxycodone tablets. Howard and Waters were taken to police headquarters, where Howard surrendered a package containing 645 oxycodone 30 mg tablets.
Waters admitted to obtaining the tablets in New York City and giving them to Howard as a favor. He planned to distribute the drugs to Maine customers. The case was investigated by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Waterville Police Department.
Waters’ guilty plea comes after a lengthy investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Waterville Police Department. The case will now proceed to sentencing, with the completion of a presentence investigation report by the United States Probation Office.
The oxycodone distribution charge is a serious offense, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. Waters’ sentence will depend on the findings of the presentence investigation report.

U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced the guilty plea in a statement Wednesday. Waters is scheduled to be sentenced after the completion of the presentence investigation report.
