Nicholas Gaskin, Cocaine Possession, New York 2022

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a major blow to the city’s drug trade, a local man is heading to prison for his involvement in the distribution of cocaine.

Nicholas Gaskin, a 37-year-old resident of Buffalo and Jamestown, NY, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was sentenced to serve 41 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

The sentencing comes after a lengthy investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who handled the case, the investigation began in March 2022, when Jamestown Police officers stopped a vehicle in which Gaskin was a passenger. Gaskin was arrested due to an active arrest warrant. During the search of Gaskin, officers recovered approximately 12 grams of crack cocaine and $1,766.00 in cash.

Following Gaskin’s arrest, investigators searched his Jamestown residence and recovered a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, $158 in cash, a quantity of suboxone pills and strips, six grams of suspected cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. The investigation also included four controlled purchases of cocaine from Gaskin.
