Tulsan Sentenced for Assaulting and Strangling Ex-Girlfriend
TULSA, Okla. – In a shocking turn of events, a 43-year-old Tulsan has been sentenced to 115 months’ imprisonment for assaulting and strangling his ex-girlfriend in April 2024.
Nicholas Jarrod Weeden, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country and Assault of an Intimate/Dating Partner by Strangling and Suffocating in Indian Country.
According to court documents, Weeden went to his ex-girlfriend’s house in April 2024 and the two began arguing. The situation escalated, and Weeden strangled the victim, hitting her head against the wall and door. He then grabbed a wooden club and hit her over the head with it.
The victim managed to fight back and escape, calling 911 for help. Weeden has been in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The FBI and the Tulsa Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stacey Todd and Melissa Weems prosecuting the case.
As part of his sentence, Weeden will serve 115 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help when needed.
