Carter Charged with Fentanyl Possession in Western Pennsylvania
A former Detroit resident has been accused of violating federal narcotics laws in western Pennsylvania.
Nicholas Lamont Carter, 31, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today.
The one-count Indictment named Carter as the sole defendant, alleging he knowingly possessed with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance, on March 8, 2021.
The law provides for a total sentence of at least five years in prison to a maximum of 40 years, a fine of $5,000,000 or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Allegheny County Police conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.
