Tamika Davis Charged with Heroin Trafficking Conspiracy in Pennsylvania

A Monroe County woman is facing serious charges after allegedly participating in a heroin trafficking conspiracy in the region. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Tamika Davis, a 33-year-old resident of Effort, Pennsylvania, conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin in Monroe County and elsewhere.

The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police, uncovered evidence of Davis’s involvement in the conspiracy. If convicted, she faces a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa. A sentence following a finding of guilty is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the Judge is also required to consider and weigh a number of factors, including the nature, circumstances and seriousness of the offense; the history and characteristics of the defendant; and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public and provide for the defendant’s educational, vocational and medical needs.

Tamika Davis is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat heroin trafficking in the region.

The alleged conspiracy took place from November 2013 through April 2014. Davis’s involvement in the conspiracy is a serious offense that carries significant penalties.
