PITTSBURGH, PA – Local Man Charged with Trafficking Fluorofentanyl and Possessing Firearm
A Washington County man has been hit with federal narcotics and firearms charges after a grand jury indicted him for his alleged involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Tecko Tartt, 35, of Charleroi, Pennsylvania, was named as the sole defendant in a three-count indictment returned on August 25 and unsealed today. According to the indictment, Tartt possessed with the intent to distribute 10 grams or more of fluorofentanyl, a Schedule I controlled substance and an analogue of fentanyl, as well as quantities of cocaine, on or about March 31, 2021.
Additionally, Tartt is accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The indictment charges Tartt with one count of possession with intent to distribute 10 grams or more of fluorofentanyl and cocaine, one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and one count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Under federal law, the maximum sentence for the first charge is up to 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000 or both. The second charge carries a maximum sentence of up to life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The third charge has a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Assistant United States Attorneys Yvonne M. Saadi and Jonathan D. Lusty are prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
The prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to disrupt and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and their networks.
An indictment is an accusation and does not necessarily reflect the guilt of the defendant. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
