Armed robbery, drug trafficking, and ‘ghost gun’ possession charges have been filed against Makoa K.F. Wilson, 26, and Jessica R. Lorrin, 30, both residents of Oahu. According to a federal indictment, the pair committed a gunpoint robbery at an illegal game room on Keaulana Avenue on July 15, 2020.
The indictment alleges that Wilson and Lorrin were involved in the armed robbery of the game room, as well as possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Additionally, they are charged with possession of a privately made firearm, commonly referred to as a ‘ghost gun,’ in furtherance of the drug trafficking crime, and possession of ammunition after having each sustained a felony conviction.
U.S. Attorney Judith A. Philips emphasized the commitment of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to combating illegal game room activity, as well as the robberies, drug trafficking, firearm offenses, and other crimes frequently associated with them.
If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on the robbery charge, a minimum of ten years and up to life in prison on the methamphetamine trafficking charge, a mandatory five years in prison consecutive to the term of imprisonment on the drug charge, and up to ten years in prison for possession of the ammunition. An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Acting U.S. Attorney Philips recognized the investigative work of Homeland Security Investigations (‘HSI’) and the assistance of the Honolulu Police Department (‘HPD’) that resulted in this indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Micah Smith is handling the prosecution.
The investigation into the armed robbery and drug trafficking activity is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Wilson and Lorrin are expected to appear in court soon to face the charges against them. The public is advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
