Cody Smith, a 24-year-old Oakland man, brazenly broke into a Waterville pawn shop in the early morning hours of August 10, 2025, and stole 23 handguns.
The heist was caught on video surveillance, both inside the shop and by exterior cameras at neighboring businesses.
Within hours, Smith was flaunting some of the stolen guns on social media, boasting about the break-in and leaving a digital trail that would ultimately lead to his downfall.
Smith’s actions have landed him in hot water, with a guilty plea to possessing stolen firearms.
He faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
