An 18-year-old from the UK, Ali Mohammed Ali Abdullah, was caught sneaking into Maine in the dead of night.
Abdullah and three others walked through the woods on the US-Canada border in Franklin County, just a few hundred yards from a US port of entry.
They were spotted by a passerby and taken into custody by US Border Patrol and Customs agents.
Abdullah pleaded guilty to entering the US without inspection and will be deported.
He was sentenced to time served and will be turned over to immigration authorities.
