A New Sweden, Maine man was caught trading child abuse images online, and now he’s facing serious time behind bars. Dustin Davenport, 30, used a cloud-based messaging service to swap sick pics and videos of kids being exploited. Investigators got a search warrant for his pad and found the evidence on his phones.
Davenport sang like a canary during the search, admitting to trading the twisted content. The feds are taking him to task, and he’s looking at up to 20 years in prison for the crimes.
The FBI, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, and Bangor Police Department are credited with cracking the case, which is a grim reminder of the horrors of child abuse and exploitation.
Child sexual abuse material, aka child pornography, is a heinous crime that re-victimizes kids every time the images are viewed. It’s a crime that’s all too common, with 36 million reports filed in 2023 alone. If you’ve got info, you can report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at https://report.cybertip.org or call 1-800-THE-LOST.
