A 25-year-old Cornish man made good on his promise to deliver a ‘visit VERY soon’ to a rival’s ‘kind’ on social media, but not in the way he intended. Blake Tibbetts pleaded guilty in US District Court in Portland to transmitting a threatening interstate communication.
Tibbetts’ violent rant, laced with a racial epithet, was allegedly made in response to an angry exchange with another X user. The FBI, Maine State Police, and Office of the Maine State Fire Marshal investigated the case.
Tibbetts now faces a maximum 5 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years of supervised release. A federal judge will determine his sentence after reviewing a presentence report.
