ERIE, Pa. – Brent Lockwood, a resident of Oil City, has been hit with federal charges for traveling overseas to engage in sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography.
The 59-year-old’s three-count indictment was announced by Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song today, detailing his alleged trip to the Philippines and subsequent illegal conduct back home.
According to the charges, Lockwood traveled with the intent to have illicit sexual contact with a minor. Upon his return, he is accused of possessing computer images showing minors involved in sexually explicit acts.
This case marks another victory for Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative aimed at combating child sex exploitation and abuse. The program leverages federal, state, and local resources to catch, prosecute, and rescue victims of such crimes.
Lockwood faces a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison and a fine of $750,000, depending on the severity of his offenses and any prior criminal history. Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is handling the prosecution for the government.
The investigation that led to Lockwood’s charges was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and Lockwood is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
