⏱ 4 min read

A brazen gunman who shot at people and barricaded himself in his Oklahoma City home is now headed to federal prison for 13+ years.

Kenyetta Romell Baucom, 45, got into two high-risk incidents with police in a span of less than a month. The first happened on December 21, 2024, when Baucom rear-ended another vehicle and a handgun fell out of his pocket as he was removed for treatment.

Just 23 days later, police responded to a reported shooting where Baucom allegedly fired at someone during a disagreement over a car sale. Officers attempted to execute a search warrant, but Baucom barricaded his door and a standoff ensued. When police finally arrested him, they found two more guns inside.

Baucom’s rap sheet includes multiple felony convictions, including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of firearms while on probation. He was sentenced to 166 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for violating federal firearms laws.

U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester praised the ATF and Oklahoma City Police Department for their work in this case, saying it highlights the need to promote respect for the law and protect the public from further crimes.
