Omaha Predator Meyer Gets 250 Months for Child Porn

OMAHA, NE – Joshua M. Meyer, 44, of Omaha, Nebraska, will spend the next 250 months behind bars after being sentenced on August 22, 2025, for distributing sickening child pornography. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence in federal court, a penalty with no possibility of parole. Meyer will also face a 20-year term of supervised release following his imprisonment, a small consolation to the victims he preyed upon.

The case unfolded after Medialab/KIK reported a flurry of illicit uploads to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) between June 27, 2023, and July 17, 2023. The digital trail led straight to Meyer’s Omaha residence. An investigation by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force revealed Meyer wasn’t just uploading; he was actively sending the depraved material to other users on the KIK platform. Further reports from KIK to NCMEC, also traced back to Meyer’s IP address, confirmed a pattern of abuse.

Meyer, already a registered sex offender, brazenly violated the terms of his supervised release. He’d been convicted on February 6, 2014, of receipt and distribution of child pornography in the same district court, receiving a 120-month supervised release term. But that didn’t stop him. In June and July 2023, while *still* under supervision, he resumed his sickening activities. Investigators discovered Meyer cleverly used a TracFone – a prepaid, unregistered phone – to circumvent restrictions on his known cell phone, a calculated attempt to hide his crimes.

During questioning, Meyer confessed to using multiple KIK accounts to both send and receive child pornography, demonstrating a clear intent to participate in the exploitation of vulnerable children. The court also ordered Meyer to pay $5,000 in restitution to each of the six identified victims, a meager attempt to address the irreparable harm he caused. This isn’t about money; it’s about accountability – and 250 months is a start.

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods emphasized this case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. The project pools resources from federal, state, and local agencies to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders and rescue victims. The investigation was conducted by the Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, a unit dedicated to hunting down these predators.

This conviction sends a message: exploiting children online will not be tolerated. While no sentence can undo the trauma inflicted, this lengthy imprisonment removes a dangerous predator from the streets and hopefully provides a measure of justice for the victims. Those with information about suspected child exploitation are urged to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children or their local law enforcement agency.
