Sioux City, IA – In a shocking case of identity theft, Ostolia Collazo-Pena, a 43-year-old woman from Mexico, was sentenced to time served after a guilty plea to one count of fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents.
The crime occurred on June 11, 2014, when Collazo-Pena presented a fraudulent Green Card and Social Security Card to apply for a job in Sioux City, Iowa. U.S. District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett presided over the case and handed down the sentence of time served. Collazo-Pena must also serve a 1-year term of supervised release, with no parole available in the federal system.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Fletcher and investigated by the Office of the Inspector General, Social Security Administration, and Homeland Security Investigations.
