Oxycodone Dealer Sentenced to 31 Months
A Pittston woman has been sentenced to 31 months in prison for her role in distributing oxycodone in the Augusta area. Jennifer Dowling, 33, pleaded guilty to the offense on January 27, 2014, and was sentenced by Chief Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. in U.S. District Court.
According to court records, Dowling sold over 30 oxycodone pills to a confidential informant working with law enforcement on May 9, 2012. The investigation showed that prior to her arrest on this charge, Ms. Dowling was a significant drug trafficker in the Augusta area.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced the sentencing, highlighting the importance of combating drug trafficking in the region.
At the sentencing, the court noted Dowling’s significant role in the local drug trade, stating that she was a major player in the Augusta area. The sentence reflects the severity of her crimes and the need for accountability in the fight against drug trafficking.
The sentence was handed down after Dowling pleaded guilty to the offense in January 2014. She will also serve 3 years of supervised release after completing her prison sentence.
