Defendant Stabs Intimate Partner, Faces Assault Charges

A 19-year-old man from the Makah Tribe has been indicted for a brutal knife assault on his intimate partner, leaving her with serious injuries and a long recovery ahead.

Peyton Blaise Watson, 19, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury, both punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release.

The alleged assault took place in the early morning hours of May 9, 2025, on the Lower Elwha Klallam Reservation, where Watson and the victim resided. According to witnesses, Watson stabbed the victim in the neck with a black folding knife, approximately three inches in length, which contained blood residue.

The victim was rushed to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, where she underwent surgery and spent five days in the hospital recovering from her injuries, including damage to her esophagus and nerve damage. During her stay, the victim described the attack to investigators, alleging that Watson threatened to kill her.

The FBI joined the investigation, working alongside the Lower Elwha Klallam Police Department to secure evidence and build a case against Watson. He was initially booked into the Clallam County Jail on tribal charges before being transferred to the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, where he remains detained.

Watson’s trial is scheduled for August 18, 2025. The charges contained in the indictment are only allegations, and a person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Celia Lee, who serves as a Tribal Liaison for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Washington, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ajay Ravindran.
