Pharmacy Robbery Nets Fredericktown Man

A Fredericktown man is facing federal charges after allegedly stealing a controlled substance from a Rite Aid pharmacy in Uhrichsville, Ohio.

According to investigators, Donald Boozer, 37, took a controlled substance from the Rite Aid pharmacy on August 24, 2014. The incident is now the focus of a federal indictment.

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury, charges Boozer with one count of pharmacy robbery. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David M. Toepfer.

The investigation into the robbery was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Uhrichsville Police Department. Acting U.S. Attorney Carole S. Rendon confirmed the charges against Boozer.

Boozer faces a sentence that will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to the case, including his prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violations. If convicted, his sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Boozer is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case serves as a reminder that pharmacy robberies are a serious offense and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The community is urged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
