A brazen pharmacy tech sold fake scripts for cash, ripping off Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for a staggering $5.6 million. Ali Naserdean, 32, of Dearborn Heights, worked at three metro-Detroit pharmacies from 2019 to 2022.
Naserdean and his co-conspirator flooded health care benefit programs with false claims for prescription medications that were never ordered or dispensed. They used forged prescriptions from doctors who never saw the patients, making it look like the meds were prescribed in good faith.
But that wasn’t all – Naserdean also sold oxycodone to notorious drug traffickers, trading cash for prescriptions that weren’t legit. The feds say this scheme caused over $5.6 million in losses to Medicare, Medicaid, and BCBS.
Naserdean pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced on September 1.
