Philadelphia Man Charged in Three Bank Heists
A brazen bank robbery spree in the Philadelphia suburbs has led to the indictment of 31-year-old Jermaine Coleman, who allegedly robbed three banks in a span of just four days in March 2013.
According to the indictment, Coleman targeted the Alliance Bank at 9 East Baltimore Avenue in Lansdowne on March 7, 2013, and the Alliance Bank at 201 South 69th Street in Upper Darby on March 9, 2013. He also robbed the Beneficial Savings Bank at 727 Church Lane in Yeadon on March 11, 2013.
United States Attorney Zane David Memeger announced the charges against Coleman, who faces a maximum possible sentence of 60 years in prison, a $750,000 fine, a three-year period of supervised release, and a $300 special assessment if convicted of all counts.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alicia M. Freind.
An indictment is an accusation, and Coleman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The brazen bank robberies have left residents in the Philadelphia suburbs on edge, and authorities are breathing a sigh of relief now that the suspect has been charged.
Jermaine Coleman’s next court appearance has not been scheduled.
