Jamal Stoner, a 38-year-old former Pittsburgh resident, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a network that brought kilogram quantities of cocaine to Western Pennsylvania. Stoner conspired with others to redistribute the cocaine in the Pittsburgh region. The conspiracy was uncovered on September 27, 2021, when law enforcement searched Stoner’s stash apartment and recovered 11 kilograms of cocaine. Stoner also accepted responsibility for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentence was imposed on May 13, 2026, by Chief United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon.
According to the prosecution, Stoner’s involvement in kilogram quantity drug distribution and his recidivist history warranted the 12-year sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Katherine C. Jordan prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The case was part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, which aims to eliminate criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations operating in the United States.
The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership that directs the full might of United States law enforcement toward identifying, investigating, and prosecuting crimes committed by these organizations. The initiative places special emphasis on investigating and prosecuting human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.
