Four men – Jhon Dennis Guerrero-Trotman, Jaime José Marval-Gutiérrez, José Gregorio Pereira-Orfila, and Héctor Gregorio Jiménez-Herrera – were indicted on April 30, 2026, for their roles in a massive cocaine trafficking operation that brought over 1,350 kilograms of the illicit substance from Venezuela into Puerto Rico. The bust, which occurred on April 26, 2026, was the result of an investigation by the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF). The defendants allegedly conspired to import and distribute the cocaine, which was seized by HSTF in 48 packages.

In a separate case, Douglas Antonio Fernández-Rodríguez was indicted on April 29, 2026, for his involvement in a cocaine smuggling operation that brought approximately 709.1 kilograms of the substance into Puerto Rico from Venezuela. Fernández-Rodríguez is also charged with entering the United States illegally.

Another indictment was unsealed on April 29, 2026, charging José Fernando Huggins-Figueroa with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. The HSTF, which is a permanent, interagency law enforcement task force, has been instrumental in combating transnational criminal organizations, including cartels and trafficking networks.

The investigations and prosecutions are being handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico, in conjunction with the HSTF and other partner agencies. Assistant United States Attorney Antonio J. López-Rivera and United States Coast Guard Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Cody A. McKinney are in charge of the prosecutions.
