A 37-year-old resident of Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the distribution of heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and alprazolam (Xanax).

Justin Misko faces up to 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, or both for each of the two counts against him. He was arrested on December 6, 2018, at the Courtyard Marriott in West Homestead after police and FBI Task Force Officers responded to an unrelated matter.

According to court documents, Misko conspired with others to distribute the controlled substances from October 2018 to December 6, 2018. The group allegedly sold the drugs at various establishments along the Waterfront of West Homestead, including Dave & Buster’s and the Courtyard Marriott.

During the arrest, Misko locked himself in his hotel room with a co-conspirator, who threw two bags off the balcony into the courtyard. FBI Task Force Officer caught the bags, which contained over 17 bricks of heroin and fentanyl, as well as distribution quantities of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and alprazolam.

Misko has been detained since his arrest and will remain in custody until his sentencing on December 14, 2021. United States District Judge David S. Cercone will preside over the sentencing hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Brian M. Czarnecki is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The investigation was a collaborative effort between multiple agencies, including the FBI, West Homestead Police, and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

This case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking and organized crime in the Pittsburgh area. As the city continues to grapple with the consequences of addiction and overdose, it is essential to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
