A Pittsfield man has been found guilty of distributing heroin, according to federal court records.
Eulises Rosado, 51, pleaded guilty to six counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute heroin in front of U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni.
The charges stem from an investigation into Rosado’s activities between March 2017 and August 2017. During this time, Rosado admitted to distributing heroin to a cooperating witness on six occasions.
Five of these instances took place at Rosado’s home, where he sold the illicit substance to the witness.
Rosado’s plea comes after he was indicted in January 2019. He is currently facing sentencing, which has been set for November 19, 2021.
The charges against Rosado carry a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. Sentences will be determined based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil L. Desroches of Mendell’s Springfield Branch Office is overseeing the case, with support from the Pittsfield, Springfield, West Springfield, Holyoke, and Easthampton Police Departments, as well as Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Office, and Colonel Christopher Mason, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell, who praised the collaborative effort in bringing Rosado to justice.
The investigation and prosecution of Rosado’s case serve as a reminder of the ongoing threat of heroin trafficking in our communities and the importance of working together to combat it.
