A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted 33-year-old Christopher Pollard on charges of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
Pollard, a former resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, faces four counts of violating federal law, including possession of a machinegun in furtherance of cocaine trafficking.
According to the Indictment, on November 3, 2023, Pollard possessed a Glock handgun that had been illegally modified to fire as a fully automatic machinegun.
The Indictment alleges that Pollard, who has multiple prior felony convictions, violated federal law by possessing the machinegun, as well as a quantity of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin C. Dobkin is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities.
The law provides for a maximum sentence of not less than five years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both. Pollard is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
An indictment is a formal accusation of a crime. The maximum sentence for the charges against Pollard is severe, and the actual sentence imposed would be based on the seriousness of the offenses and his prior criminal history.
The Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program is a key component of the Department’s violent crime reduction strategy, which includes fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, setting focused enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
