Brock A. Westrom, a 36-year-old man from Gulf Breeze, Florida, was caught in an undercover operation by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in July 2024. Westrom attempted to entice a minor, believing he was talking to a 15-year-old child, and arranged a meeting to engage in sexual acts. He was arrested when he arrived at the agreed-upon location. The operation was conducted in conjunction with other law enforcement partners to target individuals soliciting minors online for sex.
Westrom’s actions were confirmed through electronic evidence seized pursuant to a search warrant, which showed he had indeed talked to the person he believed was a child and traveled to meet them. He was sentenced to 48 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Mark E. Walker.
After serving his term, Westrom will be required to register as a sexual offender and will be subject to five years of supervised release. The sentence is a result of a unified effort by state and federal law enforcement partners to identify and stop sexual predators who target children online.
U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin and Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford warned that law enforcement will continue to aggressively prosecute individuals who engage in such heinous crimes, emphasizing that the internet is not a safe haven for sexual predators.
