Crowheart Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Sex Abuse of a Minor
Casper (Grimy Times) – Quinlin James Hernandez, 32, of Crowheart, Wyoming, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old minor. Chief U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl handed down the sentence on March 5, 2024, in Casper.
According to court documents, Hernandez was found to have driven the minor to his residence in Crowheart, where she was forced to drink alcohol with several other minors. Hernandez then made sexual advances towards the minor, who was too drunk to consent. The minor, who had been reported missing, was able to send a text to her grandmother to come pick her up at Hernandez’s residence.
The minor underwent a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination, where Hernandez’s seminal fluid and DNA were confirmed to be on her clothing. Hernandez was indicted on May 16, 2024, and initially denied the allegations. However, he later pleaded guilty on December 13, 2024, and admitted to having sex with the minor when she was too drunk to consent.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs Wind River Police Department and the FBI investigated this crime, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kerry Jacobson prosecuting the case. This case was brought about by Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Hernandez’s exact criminal charges include sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 300 months’ imprisonment with five years of supervised release. The incident occurred on April 13, 2024, and Hernandez was arrested at his residence in Crowheart, Wyoming. This case is a stark reminder of the dangers of child exploitation and the importance of reporting such crimes.
