A chaotic shootout in Farrell, Pennsylvania, has led to a guilty plea in federal court. Ralph Samuels, Jr., 50, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The incident occurred on October 3, 2012, at Rockabilly’s Bar in Farrell. A bar fight between Deandre Chambers and Corey Odem escalated into a gunfight, leaving both Samuels and Daniel Odem wounded. Samuels, who has a prior felony conviction in Ohio, fired shots at Odem, and both parties were injured in the exchange.
Samuels pleaded guilty to the charge in front of Senior United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry. The court was advised that Samuels could face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, Southwest Mercer County Regional police, and the Mercer County District Attorney.
Samuels’ sentencing has been scheduled for October 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. The exact sentence imposed will be determined by the seriousness of the offense and Samuels’ prior criminal history.
