South Dakota Man Sentenced for Illegal Possession of Firearm

A Kyle, South Dakota, man has been sentenced to federal prison for possessing a firearm despite being a prohibited person.

Ramone McBride, age 24, was sentenced on February 11, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken to 46 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, McBride was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and was found to be in possession of an Armi Jager, model Dakota SAA, .357 Mangum caliber, single-action revolver.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Rapid City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Patterson prosecuted the case.

McBride was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
