Lindsey Fitzgerald, a 37-year-old woman from Box Elder, South Dakota, was the mastermind behind a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation in Rapid City. Between October 2021 and November 2024, Fitzgerald and her crew traveled to other states to buy multi-pound quantities of the deadly drug, which they then distributed in Rapid City.
Law enforcement seized over eight pounds of methamphetamine during the investigation, which revealed a network of sub-distributors selling the drug to desperate users in the area.
Fitzgerald’s guilty plea in December 2025 marked the end of a months-long investigation involving the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team (UNET), DEA, and ATF.
On March 30, 2026, District Judge Camela C. Theeler handed down a harsh sentence: 11.5 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
